  • On "Shifter" -- " If subsequent songs are anywhere near the same quality, Jenny Mayhem will be a tremendous female artist, going just enough against the current musical grain to garner that extra attention it takes to appear on people’s radar"

"Jenny Mayhem, previously of Toronto band ADA, shines in her solo self-titled debut"
    -Toronto Music Scene

"We love the Toronto-centric video for Jenny Mayhem's new folk song "Wide Open," directed by Ace Billet. Cast as a dreamer who kills time at her depressing job at Honest Ed's by imagining her rock-star success, Mayhem flounders around Toronto's discount haven. For fans of the bargain store, the video perfectly immortalizes its weirdness (love those giant deer clocks) and highlights Mayhem's adorability." -Toronto.com

"The Barbados-born, Toronto-based artist just posted the clip for her song “Wide Open,” and the narrative is a cheeky take on the many things an up-and-comer must do to achieve indie-stardom in this town." -The Grid

"Jenny Mayhem's debut video is an unabashed love letter to department store Honest Ed's, and a more tongue in cheek wink at the "blowing up" Toronto indie music scene." -Torontoist

"Three Dutch animation art students -- Pieter-Henk van Wijk, Lilian van den Braak and Rink Hof -- have put together a stop-motion video for Toronto-based singer songwriter Jenny Mayhem. "Alice in Wonderland" appears on Mayhem's 2011 self-titled EP, and this heartfelt video is the work of some dedicated overseas fans. In a statement, van Wijk explained, "We've created the video clip with around 4,000 photos and [it] took us eight weeks to build." The story of the video revolves around a family who are living under the same roof yet completely isolated from one another and absorbed in their own worlds. As a series of circumstances brings them together, the mood shifts from eerie to hopeful and the animation proves to perfectly suit to the tone of the song."

  • Jenny Mayhem is a Toronto based singer-songwriter. Born and raised on the West Coast of Barbados, she travelled to Canada at the age of seventeen. After fronting the progressive rock act ADA for several years, Jenny changed pace with ‘Keep the Fire’, a 6-track EP released in 2009. She introduced her acoustic-folk side with an intimate performance at The Central, a tucked away venue in Toronto’s Annex district.

Songs from "Keep the Fire" are featured in a number of non-profit and artistic video campaigns. "When You're Older" can be heard in Greg Sucharew’s "Bicycle City" documentary, which follows the effects of donating thousands of bicycles to a small town in Nicaragua. This song also closes Denis Smith's "Ball of Light" film, covering the life story of a well-known Adelaide Photographer, and appeared in Wonderbound's "Love in a Digital Age" nouveau ballet performance of 2012. "King of the Street", accompanies a short video of artist Jimmy McGilchrist's participation in Adelaide's 5000+ project, while “All the World” was used in a 2010 British organ donor campaign by the same name.

In October 2011, Jenny released her self-title EP, recorded and mixed by Steve Chahley at DNA Recording Facility. Directed by Ace Billet, the music video for "Wide Open" gained positive attention in Toronto's Exclaim! and The Grid magazines. A video created for "Alice in Wonderland" at the Utrecht School of Arts was also picked up by Exclaim! and press in the Netherlands.

Jenny's latest single "Shifter" was also recorded and mixed at DNA, co-written and produced with Pouya Birgani and released in December 2012. Popular online radio site Earbits wrote "if subsequent songs are anywhere near the same quality, Jenny Mayhem will be a tremendous female artist, going just enough against the current musical grain to garner that extra attention it takes to appear on people's radar."

Jenny continues to write, record and collaborate with artists based around the world.
